I am documenting the build up to the degree shows in our building in Swansea. I will make something out of whatever is left behind following the degree and the the 2nd Yr BA show breakdowns. Something that has an aesthetic value to me, leading up to the MA 1 & 2 show later in June. A kind of Arte Povera I guess. Not knowing what I will do - relying on the situation, the space left to me, the feelings it evokes.
'As opposed to endorsing a distinctive style, Arte Povera described a process of open-ended experimentation. In the wake of the iconoclastic artistic innovations of Italian precursors Lucio Fontana and Piero Manzoni, artists were able to begin from a zero point, working outside formal limitations. Arte Povera therefore denotes not an impoverished art, but an art made without restraints, a laboratory situation in which a theoretical basis was rejected in favour of a complete openness towards materials and processes.'

This is a follow on from my own changing rooms work. The idea of making a space out of what I have, using the things that surround me, consuming less and living more.
I am pleased with myself for not buying any clothing or art materials for over 3 months now. Wandering through the mass of stores in towns, instead of feeling frustrated at not being able to either afford or fit into the things I desire, I feel free.
I continue to give items of clothing away when I am inspired to.

Here is Elle in a little silver 80s number. It was perfect for her.
I want to do a giveaway for the MA show too - unless it is too much to do both. I think there is a way of working it together tho'.
